Zilla Jones is an African-Canadian writer of Afro-Caribbean, Chinese and European decent living and working in Treaty 1 territory (Winnipeg). She was named a 2025 Writers Trust Rising Star and a 2024 CBC Writer to Watch. She was also a winner of the 2023 Journey Prize, and a finalist in the 2024 CBC short fiction prize and the 2023 Writers Trust RBC Bronwen Wallace award. Her debut novel, The World So Wide, was published in Spring 2025 with Cormorant Books, was named a CBC 2025 Book of the Year and won the Foreword Indies Gold award for historical fiction. This is her debut collection of short stories, So Much to Tell (Cormorant Books, Spring 2027). Zillas’s short fiction has won many awards and has appeared in the Malahat Review, Prism International, Prairie Fire, Grain, EVENT, the Fiddlehead, and many more journals and anthologies. Zilla is also a singer, mother, lawyer and anti-racist educator, and she is a co-author of Canada’s Black Justice Strategy.

Ben Berman Ghan is the author of The Library Cosmic (Buckrider books 2026), The Years Shall Run Like Rabbits (Buckrider Books 2024), and more. His work has appeared in Clarkesworld Magazine, Strange Horizons Magazine, The Ex-Puritan, and The Ancillary Review of Books. Rabindranath Maharaj is the author of six novels and three short story collections. His novel, The Amazing Absorbing Boy, won both the Toronto Book Award and the Trillium Fiction Prize. In 2012, Maharaj received a Lifetime Literary Award as part of the commemoration of Trinidad’s 50th independence anniversary, and in 2013, he was awarded Canada’s Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal. His books have been published in Canada, the US, the UK, the Netherlands, and Turkey. He is the co-editor, along with Dionne Brand and Tessa McWatt of Luminous Ink: An Anthology of Canadian Writing.
